Weirdo jazz soundscapes, zine making, and Murder She Wrote among this week’s recommendations
Hello! A couple of new sections this week:
Plugs for some of the other stuff I do (I promise it’s good. I only do good stuff).
Shows coming up later in the year that you should be aware of in the exciting new “get them while they’re hot” section.1

If you like alternative comedy and/or being in London Bridge, the last Next Level Sketch until the autumn is on at Hoopla Impro on Wednesday 25th June. Look at that lineup. Look at it.

I’ve collected together all the reviews I did during Brighton Fringe in one handy place. You’ll notice I’ve booked some of the people I saw for my show. This is called SCOUTING FOR COMEDIANS.

Welsh awkward-guitar pop genius Cate Le Bon is performing at The Old Market in October. This will sell out.

Glossary
OTD - On the door. As in, it’s cheaper to buy in advance.
* - a venue that is not accessible. With so many venues in Brighton being rooms above Victorian Gin Palaces, it’s important to be clear.
PWYW/C - Pay what you want / can. Please give what you’re able to, as clowns can’t live on grease paint alone.
Adv - In advance.
Bf - Booking free, not boyfriend
WIP - work in progress.
I’ve ummmed and ahhhed about this section. I don’t like how cultural nights out now involve booking months or even years in advance - it jars with my ADHD and general enjoyment of just being able to rock up to stuff. But when there’s something special - like the Magnetic Fields gig I mentioned a few months ago - I feel I must do my duty.
I’m thinking of doing a separate section for open mics, tho it’s often tricky to figure out which ones are still going. What do we reckon?
